Travel Guide
Jordan
Petra’s treasure carved in rock, Wadi Rum’s silent desert, Amman’s Roman theatre and the ferry from Aqaba to Egypt. The dinar may feel expensive but the views are unforgettable.
In short
Jordan can feel expensive after Iran or Egypt. The dinar is strong; taxi and airport prices are high. But Petra and Wadi Rum are among the most impressive places on earth.
In Amman there is a Roman theatre (old Philadelphia, 6000 seats), the citadel, museums and grey-toned buildings. Traffic is noisy, horns everywhere. Locals sometimes buy tickets and gift them.
Petra: Jet bus from Amman ~10 JOD. Entry ~50 JOD. The Treasury (Al-Khazneh) is stunning, rock-cut tombs, theatre, colourful stone layers. Walking is tiring; bring water and snacks. Caves can smell bad sometimes.
Wadi Rum: Deep silence, Mars-like scenery (film sets). Camp ~7 USD including breakfast. Jeep tours extra. Nights are cold, stars are spectacular.
Ferry from Aqaba to Egypt ~55 JOD + 10 JOD exit tax. Turkish passports may face extra checks sometimes.

Rock, desert and silence
Petra and Wadi Rum alone are worth Jordan. Even if the dinar feels a bit expensive, the views and peace make up for it. Use Jet bus and if possible spend a night in the desert.
Bring dinars and if possible spend a night in the desert.
